Yahoo! NFL writer Anwar Richardson joined Booger and guest host Marc Ryan to break down the Bucs latest free agency moves, both good and bad.
Richardson said the signing of Josh McCown is more of a competition move and a security blanket. Richardson would caution anyone who says this is a competition. We only saw one good year from McCown and that was in Marc Trestman’s system. Richardson said this doesn’t mean that this will eliminate the possibility that the Bucs take a QB with the 7th pick in the draft.
These moves to Richardson show that Lovie Smith has no loyalty to any of these players. He is putting everyone on notice at One Buc.
Richardson likes the signings of Michael Johnson and Alterraun Verner. He said grabbing young players will help the team build for the future. He also likes the signing of a TE and bringing in any member of the Seahawks defense.
Overall, Richardson likes the moves the Bucs have made in free agency. But more than that, he likes the head coach in Lovie Smith and the GM in Jason Licht.
