(BLOG) Rollergirls Stories We Missed

This weekend the Buc’s made some moves, Tiger’s back got the best of him yet again and the Lightning lost another one, but I’m sure there is some Stories We Missed.

Minor league teams are truly the best when it comes to names and great giveaways, but I think the Fresno Grizzles have really hit a homerun with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles jerseys. The Grizzles are the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants and August 2nd the guys will wear what look like children’s pajamas for the game. The baseball caps will be for sale at the teams store all summer. My real question is will pizza be given away at concessions?

That being said… why are baseball players so fat? I would think as an athlete who makes a ton of money and has to run or at least stretch everyday how do some players get to be so big? This weekend Houston Astros prospect Japhet Amado made his debut. He is 6’4″, 315 pounds, and could very well be the heaviest major leaguer ever. On the flip side have you seen CC Sabathia lately?

On a sad note this weekend my favorite brewery in Tampa, Cigar City Brewery had decided to cancel its famous Hunahpu’s Day. Hunahpu’s Day is a once a year event where the brewery release’s their Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout. Thousands of people showed up to the event this year and tickets were sold out weeks in advance. Due to the overcrowding, blocking of other neighborhood businesses and fans going crazy over this beer, the brewery has decided to cancel the once a year event that caps off Tampa Bay Beer Week. Luckily the beer will go into regular distribution next year so everyone can get their hands on it! Cheers!

Vietnam Veterans' Bond Forged Again With Kidney DonationServing together in Vietnam, John Middaugh and Henry "Bill" Warner forged an Army-brothers bond they knew was profound and lasting.
