NFL Draft: Bucs Put Khalil Mack Through Drills at Pro Day

Khalil Mack performed for NFL personnel at Buffalo’s pro day on Tuesday.

The projected top 10 pick ran between a 4.45-4.53 40-yard dash according to people in attendance.

Numerous teams showed up to see the pass rushing specialist including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

According to the Tampa Bay Times’ Greg Auman, the Bucs did more than just watch at Mack’s pro day.

Some have questioned whether Mack, 6’2” 251 lbs, could fit Lovie Smith’s defense at right end because of his lack of ideal size. I disagree with this assessment. Mack is as polished a pass rusher as you’lkl find in this draft. He plays with outstanding leverage, uses his hands effectively, and has a variety of pass rush moves.

Lovie Smith recently said that the first question he asks about defensive ends is, “can he pass rush?” Well, Mack can rush the passer, so what’s next?

Mack is one of several players the Buccaneers could consider with the 7th overall pick in May’s draft.
