Tampa Bay Lightning captain Martin St. Louis has been surrounded by controversy as of late, with trade rumors circling him. Now another twist has been added to the story.

Former Lightning GM Brian Lawton (2008-2010) spoke up a few days ago, saying that Marty had requested a trade to the New York Rangers back in 2009. Circumstances were a bit different back then, but this seems to be turning into a pattern if indeed he has been requesting a trade from current Bolts GM Steve Yzerman.

Marty has been playing inspired hockey lately, but with the trade deadline Wednesday, will the Lightning captain be dealt?
