Mark Cook of Pewter Report joined Fan Interference to give us his thoughts on the other trade rumors in Tampa Bay involving Darrelle Revis. Mark wrote a piece for his site and said that it would be a big risk for the Bucs to move a guy with the skill of Revis, and not know what you are going to get in return.
One of the problems they run into will be going with the unknown with players that they return to the team, or free agent corners that won’t be on the same level of ability as Revis in his second year removed from his ACL surgery.
Mark does think that with the salary cap going up to a reported $133 million dollars, that $16 million for Revis is a salary that they can live with for at least another year.
Another area where there is a lot of salary is the offensive line, and if there is going to be some money that is restructured, could be along the line.
When it comes to free agency, Mark said that Jason Licht is going to look for some value guys to fill a few of the holes transitioning from the former regime that signed the biggest free agent contracts the past few years with guys like Carl Nicks, and Vincent Jackson.
