Bird Crashes Through Windshield Of Small Plane

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) – Private pilot Rob Weber’s flight nearly turned tragic when a bird struck his windshield, spraying his face with shards of broken plastic at well over 150 mph.

The moment, captured by a camera mounted in the single engine plane, was one of shock and horror. Weber’s calm, cool handling of the extremely tense situation is what would save his life.

Rob Weber told WINK News, that depsite being cut on the head, his injury was minor and he feels lucky he wasn’t knocked out. Once he’d landed, Weber refused medical assistance.

Since he was the only person in the plane, he was the only one who could get the aircraft safely back to earth.
