Greg Bedard watched as much tape of Michael Sam as he could and wrote his findings on Peter King’s MMQB. Bedard joined Booger and Rich to discuss what kind of NFL prospect Sam really is because of his play.
Bedard said that Sam was a good productive college football player but he only has one pass rush move. To Bedard, he’s projected to be a mid to late round pick.
Bedard went as far to say that Sam may not even get drafted because he’s limited in what he can do. He racked up sacks against several bad offensive lines, including the Florida Gators. After evaluating the tape, Bedard said that he went almost 6 games without a splash play.
If Sam does go undrafted, Bedard said that to the public the NFL will look bad. People will blame it on his sexual preference and not his play. To those within the NFL, Bedard said that they will say sometimes that’s just the way it goes.
In the end, Bedard said he does think a team will take a chance on Sam and draft him because of the need for a pass rusher.
