Cop Struck By Vehicle During Traffic Stop

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A man is in custody after hitting a police officer with his vehicle during a traffic stop in Tampa.

The incident happened Wednesday morning after the officer stopped a suspicious vehicle.

Tampa police say another officer fired at the suspect. He was taken to the hospital with at least one gunshot wound. His condition wasn’t immediately available.

Police say the injured officer was alert and talking. He’s listed in stable condition at Tampa General Hospital.

No further details were immediately available.
