GAINESVILLE, Fla. (CBS Tampa) - A man was arrested Wednesday after police discovered 45 cans of dust cleaner in his car following a car accident.
Authorities suspect the man, 40-year-old Rodney Plylar, was huffing one of the cans at the time of the crash, according to the Gainesville Sun.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, Plylar reportedly drove his car into oncoming traffic before crashing into a nearby ditch. When police arrived on the scene, they found Plylar passed out behind the wheel with a can of dust cleaner in his hand.
In addition to that can, 45 others were found, along with 20 grams of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. Plylar’s pants were also said to have been soiled, the Sun learned.
During his arrest, the man claimed that the cans were used in his construction work. However, a breathalyzer test revealed that an interferent was present in Plylar’s samples.
He now faces charges of inhaling harmful chemicals, marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence, a report obtained by the Sun indicated.
As of Thursday, he was imprisoned at the Alachua County Jail in lieu of a $9,000 bond.
