(AUDIO) Rex Grossman: Under Lovie Smith Our Philosophy Was to Run the Ball and Play Good Defense

Rex Grossman 1-3-14

Former Bears QB Rex Grossman joined Booger and Rich to talk about what it’s like to start under center with Lovie Smith as your head coach.

Grossman called Lovie Smith a great head coach. He said he always used common sense in his approach and nothing about him was fake.

Offensively, Grossman said that Lovie Smith brought in his coordinators to do what he wanted, but overall he wasn’t very involved in the offense and with him as a QB one-on-one. Grossman said that Lovie Smith will bring in an offensive coordinator and it will be their show to run.

Grossman said the Bears were inconsistent offensively while he was there. Their philosophy was to run the ball and play tough defense but Grossman said in today’s NFL you have to be able to throw the ball as well.

Finally Grossman praised the hire of Lovie Smith and said he will do great in Tampa Bay.
