Man Who Assaulted Woman Made To Carry ‘I’m A Scumbag’ Sign

TAMPA (CBS Tampa) – An assault victim didn’t want her attacker to go to jail.

Instead, she envisioned a very different kind of punishment, reports WTVT-TV.

Alisha Hessler tells Tampa police she was out clubbing with friends when Gabriel Urena began to grope her.

After he refused her pleas to stop, Hessler finally hit him.

That’s when, she says, Urena became violent.

“I did hit him first and then all of a sudden that’s when he started beating me repeatedly, punching me,” Hessler said.

She suffered a concussion and a broken nose.

Hessler called the cops but later decided to take the law into her own hands.

She contacted Urena on Facebook and issued an ultimatum.

Either stand at a busy intersection for 8 hours, wearing a dunce cap and holding up a sign, or she would press charges.

The sign read “I beat women. Honk if I’m a scumbag”

“I didn’t want him to be locked up for a year. I honestly dont think that would teach him anything,” said Hessler.

Urena went through with the public shaming and now says he’s a changed man.

His latest Facebook posting was “I’ve quit drinking and doing anything negative..its time for change.”
