Yesterday afternoon, the Tampa Bay Sports Commission announced that the city of Tampa was awarded the 2017 college football national title game, which takes place at the end of what will be third season of the new college football playoff’s existence. Some are already predicting the presence of the championship game will have a similar impact on the local economy that the Super Bowl has in the past.

Marc Ryan shares this story and more on his five topics of the day, and also gets a chance to speak with Rob Higgins, the executive director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission, about the process of bringing the game to Raymond James Stadium in January 2017 and what it will do for our community.
