Murder Trial Begins For Christopher Whaley

BARTOW (CBS TAMPA BAY) – The murder trial of Christopher Whaley, a man accused of stabbing his grandmother to death, began today in Polk County.

In April 2012, investigators say Whaley killed his grandmother while she was in the bathtub at their Lake Wales home. According to reports by baynews9.com and others, officials say Whaley confessed to the crime and told authorities that his grandmother’s last words to him were, “I love you”.

While jurors will not hear the evidence, Whaley’s grandmother may have saved other family members’ lives as Whaley had relatives who lived nearby.

Christopher Whaley is facing a fist degree murder charge and if convicted, he faces life in prison.

The trial is expected to a week to conclude.
