Police: Prostitute Arrested After Trying To Bring Baby To Work

IMMOKALEE, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – A local woman was arrested after police say she attempted to take her infant child with her while she tried to earn money by prostituting herself.

The woman, 19-year-old Alisia Alverez, resorted to prostitution because she is presently unemployed, the Naples Daily News is reporting, and was said to be looking specifically for drug money.

Around 1 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, Alverez attempted to take the baby with her when 24-year-old Braulio Cano, her ex-boyfriend and the father of the child, stopped her from doing so.

According to a police report obtained by the paper, the argument escalated when Alverez attempted to get a stroller for the 1-year-old child. When Cano intervened at that point, Alverez allegedly hit and scratched him on his face and neck. He retaliated by pinning her to the bed.

Deputies with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene soon after. Upon hearing accounts from both parties, they arrested Alverez charged her with domestic violence battery. As of Thursday night, she remained in the Collier County jail.

Authorities also notified the state’s Department of Children and Families, but left the child with Cano in the meantime, the Daily News learned.
