Teen Killed While Crossing Road In Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a 13-year-old boy is dead following a hit-and-run crash in Orlando.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Omar Figueroa was crossing the road in a crosswalk Sunday night when a car ran through a red light and hit him. Witnesses followed the car, which fled after hitting the teen.

About a mile down the road, the vehicle was involved in a second crash. The FHP says 51-year-old Jennifer Lee Herrington received minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. She was later arrested for leaving the scene of a crash involving death.

The crash remains under investigation. Other traffic charges are pending.
