Police: Man Calls 911 Twice Because Neighbors Wouldn’t Drink With Him

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – A local man was arrested after he called 911 twice to complain about his neighbors’ refusal to drink with him.

The Off the Beat blog of the TC Palm is reporting that disgruntled area resident James Collins made use of the emergency telephone system on Nov. 3 to file the unorthodox complaint.

“The complainant, James Collins, stated that his neighbors were being mean and would not drink with him,” a report obtained by the blog states. “[An officer] explained to James about misusing 911.”

Despite the warning, he called 911 again a half hour later, again to gripe about his neighbors’ reluctance to drink alcohol with him.

Soon after the call, Collins got the company he sought – in the form of local law enforcement who came to arrest him. He is now facing charges of disorderly intoxication and misuse of 911, the Off the Beat blog learned.

The incident is said to have taken place on Collins’ birthday.
