The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that running back Doug Martin has been placed on the Injured Reserve list.
Martin started six games this season, leading the team in rushing attempts and rushing yards, recording 127 rushes for 456 yards and a touchdown. He also added 12 catches for 66 yards. Prior to his injury, Martin’s 81.8 rushing yards per game were the fourth most in the NFL.
In his second season from Boise State, Martin started all 16 games his rookie season, recording 1,926 yards from scrimmage, the third most in the NFL behind RB Adrian Peterson and WR Calvin Johnson. Martin earned a Pro Bowl berth, and set franchise rookie records for rushing yards (1,454), scrimmage yards (1,926), rushing touchdowns (11) and total touchdowns (12). In Week 9 at Oakland, Martin rushed 25 times for 251 yards and four touchdowns. His 251 rushing yards are tied for the 10th-most in NFL history, and he is one of only two players in NFL history to rush for 250+ yards and four touchdowns in the same game (Mike Anderson, DEN-12/3/00).
The team also announced that linebacker Ka’lial Glaud has been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster.
