Police: Man Charged With Aggravated Battery After Fighting Over Fishing Spot

SARASOTA, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – A local man is in jail after police say he stabbed a second man over a fishing spot.

According to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, 58-year-old David Christner became enraged Saturday evening when his unnamed victim began to argue with him over a parking spot near a fishing location.

The altercation escalated from verbal to physical, and ended when Christner allegedly stabbed the man with an ice pick in his back and right side, the paper learned.

Officers with the Sarasota Police Department were called to the scene. Upon their arrival, they air lifted the victim to the Black Medical Center’s trauma unit. There, emergency surgery and a blood transfusion had to be performed.

Meanwhile, Christner was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
