(AUDIO) Brad Johnson: This FSU Miami Matchup Could be a “Stat Game”

FSU alum and former Super Bowl winning QB for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Brad Johnson joined Booger and Rich to talk about this weekend’s rivalry against the Miami Hurricanes.

Jimbo Fisher has told his team he wants them to be elite but Johnson said FSU isn’t at that level yet. Teams like Alabama can be considered elite because they have the hardware but the Noles don’t have any recently and until they get it, they’ll only be great.

Johnson said when he was with the Noles their main goal was to win the “state championship” by beating both Florida and Miami. If they could beat those two teams, everyone knew they had a good shot at going to the national championship game.

Despite it’s storied history, Johnson said to him the bigger rivalry wasn’t between the Noles and Gators but between FSU and Miami. He said when he played Miami was a top notch program and it hurt worse to lose to them.

Redshirt freshman Jameis Winston has played out of his mind this season and Johnson said it’s amazing what he’s doing in his first year as a starter at FSU. When it’s all said and done, he could be among great FSU QB’s like Charlie Ward and Chris Weinke.
