Police: Couple Kill Roommate With Sledgehammer Because She Wanted Them To Move Out

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS Tampa) — Port St. Lucie authorities say two people killed their roommate with a sledgehammer because the victim wanted them to move out.

WPBF-TV reports that David Weingrad and his girlfriend, Georgia Scordamaglia, were arrested Sunday morning in the death of 53-year-old Alisa Kerman. The couple was found at a La Quinta Inn in Fort Lauderdale with Kerman’s stolen truck.

Kerman’s body was found Thursday evening inside her home after she was hit in the head three times with the sledgehammer, according to WPTV.

Police say the couple killed Kerman because she wanted them to move out due to their drug use.

“(Weingrad) did indicate to us that they had discussed it about a week or so prior,” Detective Sheila LaGrega told WPBF. “In their minds, they felt that that’s what needed to be done.”

The couple was charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery, and both Weingrad and Scordamaglia are being held at the Broward County Jail.
