Deputies: Man Shot To Death Outside Whole Foods

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A man is dead after authorities say he was shot in an altercation with a former Tampa Bay Storm football player behind a Whole Foods Market.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says deputies discovered 31-year-old Deshaun Gregory dead Tuesday in the Tampa store’s parking lot.

Investigators say Gregory was upset with David Saunders, reported to be his girlfriend’s personal trainer. A spokesman for the Tampa Bay Storm arena football team confirmed Saunders is a former player.

According to investigators, Gregory and his girlfriend drove next to the Whole Foods where Saunders was in his car.

Deputies say Gregory approached Saunders and pulled out a knife. The two men struggled outside Saunders’ vehicle. Investigators say one round was fired from a handgun in Saunders’ possession.

Saunders has not been charged.
