ORLANDO (CBS Tampa) - A man was arrested Saturday for allegedly punching a police horse several times in the neck.
The horse and its rider were part of a several-officer effort to disperse a crowd that had reportedly gathered in an area parking lot. While police – including the horse, named Mr. George – tried to clear the area, one man fought back.
The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the man, Korey Jerelds, first cursed at the horse before “t[aking] a fighting stance” with it. He then proceeded to land several punches to Mr. George’s neck before he was detained.
Police told the paper that the horse was not injured, but Jerelds was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail.
He is facing a misdemeanor charge of striking a police animal. Since his arrest, he has been released from jail, the paper learned.
