(AUDIO) Teddy Purcell Says Jon Cooper is a Player’s Coach and They Aren’t Used to That
Lightning forward Teddy Purcell joined Booger and Rich to talk about the Lightning’s winning start under new head coach Jon Cooper.
Purcell said sometimes you have to communicate to each other that they’re not playing well enough. Purcell said you just have to look into their eyes like men and tell them.
Purcell said that there are different schemes and a different attitude from Jon Cooper and he’s a player’s coach. He said that they’re not used to that and the team has responded well. Purcell said under Cooper they’ve been playing with team toughness which makes it difficult for opponents to come into The Forum and play.
Purcell said you can’t appreciate the guys who go out and fight for you enough. He said those are the guys you’ll take on your team any day of the week. Purcell said you gotta take those guys out for a nice steak and buy them a bottle of wine.
Purcell said the Lightning defense has been stingy this year and isn’t letting teams get into the zone which helps the offense with possession. Purcell also praised the goaltending saying Ben Bishop and Anders Lindback have been solid in net so far this season.
Purcell has been an offensive star 6 games in for the Bolts and he said when he was given his contract extension it pushed him to prove that he deserved that money. Purcell admitted he was inconsistent in the past but his 4 goals and 4 assists shows he’s getting past that.
