Boy Wearing Scream Mask Arrested After Robbing Mail Carrier At Gunpoint

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in South Florida on charges of robbing a mail carrier at gunpoint.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday the boy is charged with armed robbery in the September crime in Pompano Beach. Investigators say the boy wore a mask from the movie Scream when he pointed a gun at 52-year-old mail carrier Glenn Girard and demanded his master mailbox key.

Girard gave up the key but then pushed the gun away, and the two scuffled. Authorities say the boy ran, dropping both the mailbox key and the mask.

The boy was arrested based on an anonymous tip to Crimestoppers. He has 10 outstanding criminal warrants and was already on probation.

The boy’s name was not released because of his age.
