(AUDIO) Lavonte David Admits the Josh Freeman Ordeal Was a Bit of a Distraction

Bucs linebacker Lavonte David joins Booger and Rich every Tuesday at 4:20pm to take you onto the field and into the locker room of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

David said that now that Josh Freeman is gone, it’s a little strange to see his locker cleared out but the team got right back to work preparing for the Eagles. David said that Mike Glennon has been encouraged by all his teammates and he was in a good rhythm in practice on Monday.

David said that one of the main focuses of the defense is limiting mistakes by communicating better. He said that’s what has gotten them the first half of the season.

Michael Vick likely won’t play Sunday and David said that he and Nick Foles are a very different style of QB. David said they can focus more on coverage with Foles since he isn’t a dynamic runner like Vick.

David did say that the Josh Freeman situation wasn’t necessarily a big distraction but the team did recognize it and at times it was difficult to focus. Now the team can move forward and David said that Greg Schiano allowed it to go away and told the team they made a business decision and now it’s time for the team to focus.

David said the way they’ve moved past it is by focusing on winning. He says there’s 12 games left and they have to focus on winning each and every one of them.

During the bye week, David said he went back to see his family and watched his nephew play football in Miami. He got away from football a little and relaxed.
