Pregnant Woman Shot In Head, Baby Survives

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A man is accused of shooting his pregnant girlfriend in the head in their Tampa apartment.

Police say 22-year-old Brianna L. Anderson was still alive when they arrived at the scene Wednesday night. She was taken to Tampa General Hospital where she later died.

Tampa media outlets report the woman’s baby was delivered by cesarean section and was in stable condition late Wednesday.

Authorities received a tip that 22-year-old Jamar Anjuan Silas was traveling in a blue Hyundai Accent. A brief chase ensued when officers tried to stop the car, but eventually police were able to immobilize the vehicle.

Two men were taken into custody. Silas has been charged as a felon in possession of a gun and Tampa police say more charges are forthcoming.
