Police: Man Imprisons 80-Year-Old Girlfriend To Perform Exorcism On Her

HOLIDAY, Fla. (CBS Tampa) — A man is accused of imprisoning his 80-year-old girlfriend and performing an exorcism on her.

According to a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office report obtained by The Smoking Gun, 54-year-old David Edward Benes got into a physical altercation with his live-in elderly girlfriend of three years Monday, restraining her and holding her down to “exorcise her and get the devil out of her” at their Holiday home.

The victim told authorities that Benes took all the batteries out of the phones to prevent her from seeking help. She said Benes also took her car keys and dismantled the garage so she couldn’t leave.

She claimed that Benes “held her against her will” until authorities showed up to the residence Tuesday.

Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies found injuries to both her arms when they arrived on the scene.

The report states that Benes was too drunk to recall what happened, but according to the Tampa Bay Times, he said his girlfriend started the fight “because she is crazy.”

This is not the first time Benes has been in trouble with the law. He was charged with domestic violence last month and also in April 2012.

He is currently being held at the Land O’Lakes detention center on $20,000 bond after being charged with battery on person 65 years of age or older, false imprisonment and tampering with a witness.
