Every Thursday at 3:40pm college football insider Pat Forde joins Booger and Rich to talk some college football and take you inside our local universities for the best college football coverage in Tampa Bay.
Forde said that Schiano was a pretty solid college coach at Rutgers, but that chop the wood, intense attitude doesn’t work in the modern era. The days of Vince Lombardi are long gone.
The Buccaneers were not allowed to wear their throwback helmets because of a new rule that teams can’t wear more than one helmet for safety reasons. College teams tend to alternate their helmets and Forde said we could see these rules trickle down to teams like Oregon that seem to change helmets on a weekly basis. Forde also said it’s possible to see these strict rules on targeting players that’s been instituted in the NFL also trickle down to college football as well.
The Gators take on Tennessee this weekend and their offense has been suspect so far this season. Forde said Tennessee isn’t very good defensively so Florida should look better on offense. If that doesn’t happen this weekend, Forde says there’s major problems with a tougher schedule approaching with the Gators.
