Tampa Officials Get Homeless Veterans Off Streets

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Tampa officials are teaming up to help get homeless veterans off the streets.

Several organizations, including the police department and sheriff’s office, have identified homeless veterans and will provide a ride on Wednesday to an event to help those who have served our country.

The event is called the One Stop Shop for Homeless Veterans with VA Outreach Bus.

Veteran’s affairs counselors will be on hand to help with filling out housing voucher applications, organize their military paperwork, and assess their needs for mental health and substance abuse counseling.

Organizers will also be reaching out to the chronic homeless living on Tampa’s streets.
