Man Who Escaped From Back Of Patrol Car Arrested

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — The man who had climbed out of the back seat of a Sarasota Police patrol car is back in police custody.

Police say 27-year-old Brandon Kesti was arrested Monday and charged with felony escape – the same day he tried to flee from police.

Officers approached Kesti early Monday morning as he slept on a bench in front of a library. Kesti didn’t have any identification on him and gave several fake names to police. A police statement says he was arrested for unlawful lodging out of doors and giving a false name after being lawfully detained.

While handcuffed in the backseat, police say Kesti managed to climb out of the window and tried to flee. Officers were able to catch him and walk him into jail.
