Josh Freeman Continues To Dig Himself A Hole

When Josh Freeman wasn’t voted captain for the 2013 season, many people began to wonder why. The answer might be more clear tonight, as multiple reports confirm that Josh Freeman overslept and missed the annual team photo prior to the Bucs’ Week 1 loss to the New York Jets.

Freeman, who has been a captain every season since 2010, has been the subject of most of the discussion going into this season, which is a contract year for the Bucs’ signal caller.

The Bucs’ QB did not help his cause this past Sunday in their 18-17 loss to the Jets, as he completed 15 of 31 passes, for one TD and a momentum changing interception that led to the Jets’ only touchdown of the game.

Unfortunately for Freeman and the Bucs, this is not the first time that he has put himself and the team in a negative light with the community. This past June, Freeman was late to his own football camp, saying that car troubles were the reason for his tardiness.  Luckily Vincent Jackson was there assisting Freeman and led the camp until Freeman arrived.

Ever since the Bucs selected NC State quarterback Mike Glennon in the third round, the debate over who’s going to be the starter in Tampa Bay, Freeman or Glennon, has been raging for months on every show on The Fan. Now the question may not be if Freeman stays, but when he gets replaced. And if Freeman cannot figure out how to snap out of this funk, it might be sooner then any of us ever thought.
