Teen Flees Scene After Hitting 16-Year-Old On Bike

APOPKA, Fla. (AP) — One central Florida teen is dead and another is in jail following a hit-and-run crash in Apopka.

The Florida Highway Patrol says 16-year-old Edward Fernandez was riding his bicycle Monday night when he was hit by a car. The driver kept going after the crash.

Apopka police located the car a short time later, thanks to descriptions by witnesses. Authorities say the driver who hit the teen is 18-year-old Kristy Nandoo. They say she had traded vehicles with her boyfriend when they arrived. She remained in the Orange County Jail on Tuesday afternoon.

No further details were immediately available.
