Every week during football season Bucs linebacker Lavonte David joins Booger and Rich to bring you a Buccaneers perspective from on the field. Today David talked about preparation for Week 1 against the New York Jets.
David said that he’s becoming more vocal now this season than he was last season. He also said the expectations have risen and he’s just trying to avoid setbacks and do his job.
With a down year for the defense last season, David said the Bucs are working on avoiding mental mistakes this season. David also said the additions of Darrelle Revis and Dashon Goldson are great for their defense and he looks forward to playing with them Week 1.
When it comes to leadership, David said that everyone tends to lead but Gerald McCoy and Dashon Goldson have been the most vocal so far this preseason. David said he himself acts as a motivator even though he’s a laid back guy.
When it comes to non football activities, David said that he kicks back and watches TV and video games. He enjoys watching Netflix movies and is a big fan of Family Guy but hates horror movies. His pregame go-to movie? 300.
David said the defense is letting the pass rushers do their jobs. The Bucs aren’t doing anything new according to David.
