(AUDIO) Gary Barnett: Texas A&M Won’t Risk Forfeiting Games by Playing Manziel if They Think He’s Guilty

Former college football coach Gary Barnett joined Booger and Rich to talk about what he would do if he were coaching Johnny Manziel right now at Texas A&M.

Barnett said that the Texas A&M coaching staff likely knows more than we do and are probably gathering information through their compliance department right now so that they can make the best decision possible. If they play Johnny Manziel, Barnett the Aggies would have a pretty good idea that everything is going to be ok. Barnett says they wouldn’t be willing to risk forfeiting a game.

Barnett said the NCAA is going to ask Manziel directly if he took money from the autograph brokers. Barnett says the NCAA already has the answer to that and if he answers no and they have proof, his consequences will be worse than if he were to tell the truth.

SEC coaches voted Georgia’s Aaron Murray 1st Team SEC Quarterback over Manziel and Barnett said that one great year by Johnny Manziel likely didn’t sway the coaches minds when they cast their votes. Coaches don’t normally like to vote for a rogue Barnett said.

Despite the controversy surrounding Texas A&M, Barnett says the Aggies will still be very good this season. Even if Manziel doesn’t play, Barnett says a good QB will play behind him and they’ll be ready to go again this year.
