Team Places Two on Injured Reserve, Sign TE Shanahan

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today announced the waiving of wide receiver Carlton Mitchell, defensive end Ernest Owusu, quarterback Adam Weber and defensive end Markus White, and the release of wide receiver Derek Hagan, fullback Spencer Larsen and safety Troy Nolan.

The team also announced they have placed cornerback Anthony Gaitor (torn ACL) and running back Michael Smith (torn ligament – foot) on injured reserve and signed tight end Mike Shanahan.

Shanahan (6-4, 241) comes to Tampa Bay after having spent training camp with the New York Jets. A North Huntingdon, Pa. native, Shanahan played collegiately at the University of Pittsburgh. He entered the NFL this season as a college free agent.
