Every Wednesday the skipper Kevin Kennedy joins Booger and Rich to break down the Tampa Bay Rays and talk about everything else going on in the game of baseball. Today Mark Cook from Pewter Report sat in for Rich Herrera.

Kennedy addressed the Rays slump and said that the Rays didn’t finish games off against the Dodgers and was surprised Price left his matchup against the Dodgers so early on Friday night. The bullpen has also been struggling according to Kennedy and they needs to work better to get Rodney the ball. When Rodney gets the ball, he has to throw strikes.

“It’s not panic time,” Kennedy said but did mention that when your ace is on the mound, you have to win. He expects the Rays to pick it up with David Price set to start Wednesday night.

Kennedy was surprised at how poorly Hellickson pitched against the Dodgers. He said Hellickson is usually crisper and sharper in his starts but his pitches were very flat last weekend. Kennedy did note that getting Matt Moore and Alex Cobb back into the rotation will be very beneficial to the rotation.

Joe Maddon isn’t a big team meeting guy and probably won’t call the team in for a pep talk Kennedy said.
