GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Acupuncture isn’t just for humans anymore.

A clinic in Gainesville is providing holistic health care for animals.

Pets at the Holistic Veterinary Animal Clinic can get herbal therapy and acupuncture, among other treatments.

Owner and veterinarian Jennifer Harl tells the Gainesville Sun she sees a need for holistic animal care incorporating both Eastern and Western forms of medicine. The holistic approach combines nutrition and wellness and focuses on prevention rather than just responding to an illness.

Harl says her own yellow Labrador retriever saw an improvement in mobility after undergoing acupuncture for arthritis.
