(AUDIO) Scott Reynolds from Pewter Report: Da’Quan Bowers Has to Step Up

Scott Reynolds 8-8

Every Monday and Friday Scott Reynolds from Pewter Report joins Booger and Rich to talk about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Today Reynolds helped break down the Bucs first preseason game against the Ravens with Booger and The Commish Justin Pawlowski.

Reynolds said that kicker Derek Dimke stood out the most to him last night. With the injury to Connor Barth and now Lawrence Tynes, Reynolds said Dimke stepped up and performed well in the first preseason game of the season.

Outside of Derek Dimke, the special teams was a “train wreck” according to Reynolds. There was a fumbled punt return and a blocked punt and Reynolds said there will be some corrections made in the near future.

Peyton Hillis went down with a knew injury and Reynolds said as of right now the Bucs are still awaiting results to see how severe the injury is.

Last night Da’Quan Bowers played almost the entire first half and Schiano seems to be calling him out in press conferences. Reynolds said that Bowers was essentially handed the starting job but that he has to remember this is the NFL and isn’t playing at a high level. Reynolds even said Bowers took a play off on a Ravens bootleg last night.

Reynolds said that Adrian Clayborn will have to be the guy that applies the pressure off the edge when he returns from his groin injury. There aren’t any other viable options at this point with little depth behind him according to Reynolds.
