Every Wednesday former MLB manager Kevin Kennedy joins Booger and Rich to take a look around the league and talk about your Tampa Bay Rays.

The trade deadline was minutes before Kennedy joined Booger and Rich and the former MLB skipper said that the Rays have already traded for Jesse Crain and if a deal is going to get done before the deadline, then it’s likely already been negotiated by Andrew Friedman at this point. Kennedy also said that getting Alex Cobb healthy should fill any void that the Rays have on this current team and a trade isn’t necessary for them to compete.

Roberto Hernandez threw his first complete game since 2010 Tuesday night against the Diamondbacks and Kennedy says his performance has changed his opinion of the Rays scrutinized starter. Kennedy said if his sinker is on, then he is a nasty pitcher and could contribute to the Rays rotation.

Kennedy also addressed the blown call in the Rays Red Sox game from Monday night and said umpire Jerry Meals wasn’t positioned properly to make the call and this, according to Kennedy, is where replay has to come into play. Kennedy thinks that there should be a manager’s challenge similar to that of football.
