PORT ORANGE, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – More than just a pot of coffee was brewing at the Christopher Bean coffee shop in Port Orange. The owner, Christopher Brown, was arrested and charged with growing marijuana in the coffee shop Tuesday.
A WESH Orlando report said, Brown had several dozen marijuana plants, elaborate growing equipment, and a water source locked inside of a hidden room that an employee discovered as he was turning the lights off in the business. The employee took a video of the room and after consulting his wife, he contacted police.
Brown was released on $20,000 bail. He is charged with manufacturing cannabis and possession of cannabis in excess of 20 grams.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Brown sells his coffee brand in over 3,000 grocery stores across the country.
In the background summary portion of his account, he wrote, “I always wanted to own my own business, but there was always one big dilemma, what business?”
