Complaint Filed Against UCF Professor For Supporting Anti-Muslim Hate
Orlando, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – Students at the University of Central Florida say a professor has been teaching anti-Muslim hate.
WFTV reported that the Council of American-Islamic Relations claimed that Jonathan Matusitz supports anti-Muslim hate.
“So why? Why do so many Muslims relative to other religions want to kill us? The answer is easy. Very easy. It’s seven letters: culture,” Matusitz says in a video posted on YouTube.
So far the video has only about 3,000 views.
CAIR said in a letter that Matusitz’s teachings are inaccurate, but Matusitz responded that he is being taken out of context and all his lectures are supported by statistics.
“They’ve never been in my classes. They don’t know the context of my classes,” Matusitz told the station. “I think they’re wrong. I think they’re afraid of truth-tellers and they want to stifle free speech.”
The school and students say he should be able to say what he likes and that it is protected by free speech.
“Dr. Matusitz expressed his opinion, which is his right. He was not speaking on behalf of the university and we do not endorse his views,” UCF spokesperson Grant Heston said in an email to WFTV.
