Police: Father Charged In 5-Week-Old Son Death

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (AP) — A Polk County man has been charged with manslaughter after an autopsy revealed his 5-week-old son suffered from blunt force trauma to the head.

Winter Haven police say 28-year-old Danny Colt Britt was booked early Friday morning. He’s also charged with aggravated child abuse. His first appearance is scheduled for Saturday morning.

Police say Britt called 911 on May 18th when the child was not breathing. The child was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A medical examiner’s report stated that a head injury just above the child’s left ear could only have been caused by a significant blow to the head. The death has been ruled a homicide.

The child’s mother has not been charged.
