Weekend of June 1-2: U.S. Sen. Bob Graham, CW44’s Bayside on Hurricane Season, Snapper the Therapy Dog, Healthy Vision Awareness
We’ve got a great weekend of The Current coming up for you! It’s a full hour packed with great guests, important topics and ways to connect with the Tampa Bay community. Our segments for the weekend of June 1-2 include:
U.S. Senator Bob Graham: Florida’s 38th Governor and former U.S. Senator Bob Graham, now the founder of the Bob Graham Center for Public Service at the University of Florida, sits down with our host for a discussion on Florida’s future and its pressing challenges.
CW44’s Bayside on Hurricane Season: June 1 is the beginning of hurricane season, and Sheli Sanders, host of Bayside on our TV partner The CW44, spoke with representatives from Progress Energy and Tampa Electric about how they’re helping prepare for a storm.
Snapper the Therapy Dog: Therapy dogs can provide much-needed relief and companionship to many people, and we discussed the story of Snapper the Therapy Dog and her book “Hold My Paw: The True Story of How I Became a Therapy Dog” with co-author PK Lichtenberger. All proceeds from the book benefit PARC and individuals with disabilities.
Dr. Rachel Bishop on Healthy Vision: Over 38 million Americans over age 40 have serious vision issues, and the number is rising. Dr. Rachel Bishop with the National Eye Institute joins us to discuss steps one can take to detect vision problems and help your eyes last a lifetime.
