Police: Man Fires Gun At Teen For Playing Music Too Loud

SALT SPRINGS, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – A local man was arrested after police say he fired a gun at a teenager who was playing loud music.

According to a press release on the Marion County Sheriff’s Office website, area resident Stanley A. Kaniewski became enraged last Wednesday when a nearby 16-year-old played music at a high volume.

When he made no motion to turn the music down, the 72-year-old man allegedly took matters into his own hands.

The police report said that Kaniewski “… came out of his house and began yelling obscenities and threatening to kill him, if he did not turn the music down.”

The father of the teenager then approached Kaniewski’s home, at which point Kaniewski pointed a gun at him.

When deputies arrived on the scene, neighbors told them they had heard the loud music, as well as men yelling and gunshots. A subsequent search of Kaniewski’s home revealed the revolver, found sitting on a table.

“Kaniewski apparently said he did not want to harm anyone as the gun only had bird shot in it and it would not hurt anyone anyway,” the report stated.

He was arrested and taken into custody by responding authorities, the release added. He was then charged with aggravated assault.
