Parents Of Toddler Arrested For Leaving Him In Car

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Hillsborough County deputies have arrested the parents of a 23-month-old boy left in an SUV for eight hours.

A news release says 27-year-old Alexander Rosario and 26-year-old Douceaymee Lopez-Alvarez both face charges of aggravated child neglect.

Officials say that on April 16, the couple left their toddler in their SUV in the front of their Tampa apartment for about eight hours.

According to deputies last month, the family — which also includes three young daughters — came home about 4 a.m. from visiting relatives. The parents took their three daughters inside.

Rosario thought Lopez-Alvarez brought their son in, too. Lopez-Alvarez thought Rosario had. But the boy remained outside.

The toddler was hospitalized, but released days later.

Deputies say the toddler and his sisters are now in the state custody.
