We’ve got a great weekend of The Current coming up for you! It’s a full hour packed with great guests, important topics and ways to connect with the Tampa Bay community. Our segments for the weekend of May 11-12 include:
Peter Tush of The Dali Museum: The internationally-renowned Dali Museum hosted a 24-hour read-a-thon to celebrate its namesake artist Salvador Dali’s 109th birthday. Readers (including your host at 12:30 PM) read from Dali’s biographyThe Secret Life of Salvador Dali in 15-minute intervals from May 10-11. We spoke with Peter Tush, the museum’s Curator of Education, about the event and Dali’s impact on Tampa Bay.
Dr. Stanley Szefler of National Jewish Health: May is Asthma Awareness Month, bringing attention to the respiratory disease that kills 250,000 annually worldwide. We speak with the nation’s foremost research expert on asthma about treating and managing the disease as well his research into personalized medicine. I’ll also share a surprising personal story about how National Jewish Health saved my life – literally.
Officer Tiffany Morris of Temple Terrace Police: Every year Sykes Enterprises hosts the Our Heroes Luncheon, this year May 23rd at the Tampa Convention Center, honoring our community’s law enforcement, fire and emergency medical personnel. Temple Terrace police officer Tiffany Morris is one of this year’s honorees, and she joined us along with Andrea Thomas from Sykes Enterprises and Michael Dunn from the City of Temple Terrace.
Dr. Patrick Mularony of All Children’s Hospital and Rich Herrera of 98.7 The Fan: On May 16, the VF Majestic Charity Golf Classic will take place at the Innisbrook Golf Resort, with proceeds to benefit All Children’s Hospital. We spoke with Dr. Mularony, director of sports medicine for All Children’s, about what makes the hospital different and such a valuable community partner.
