PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS Tampa) — A local man was taken to jail after informing police that he had tried to hide pills and needles in his buttocks.
The man, 24-year-old Port St. Lucie resident Kamon Holobaugh, was first spotted by authorities at around 3 a.m. on April 23 after he flashed his high beams at a sergeant with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.
After stopping his car at a nearby post office in Fort Pierce, the sergeant approached. That’s when he’s said to have noticed Holobaugh’s nervous demeanor. He was also sweating and his pants were unzipped at the time, TC Palm blog Off the Beat is reporting.
Though he said he flashed the high beams by accident, police asked to search the car. He allowed them to do so, but as he got out of the car, several pills reportedly fell.
Holobaugh also began to walk irregularly, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the blog. He claimed his odd stride was due to an injury, but further interrogation and search led police to a different conclusion.
“Kamon stated he ‘may have some needles between his cheeks,'” one officer was quoted as saying in the affidavit. “Upon searching that area I located a bag of unused needles.”
The incident report added, “[He] believed there was more pills in his anus. After moving around for a little bit, a small clear plastic baggy was found near his feet.”
Holobaugh was subsequently taken into police custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and drug equipment possession and or use.
