From The Current
We’ve got a great weekend of The Current coming up for you! It’s a full hour packed with great guests, important topics and ways to connect with the Tampa Bay community. Our segments for the weekend of May 4-5 include:
Chris Kuban of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation: On Friday, May 10 at 6 PM, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the Gary Sinise Foundation will come together for the Lt. Dan Band benefit concert in Tampa’s Curtis Hixon Park, with proceeds going to build a smart house in South Tampa for triple-amputee war hero Sgt. Michael Nicholson. Tickets are available at www.SupportMikeNicholson.com.
Dr. Scott Pfister of the U.S. Department of Agriculture: Summer is coming and as more people travel and spend time outside, invasive pests and plant diseases can easily be spread. Dr. Pfister from the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service tells us about www.HungryPests.com and seven steps on how to avoid spreading invasive pests that can cause major damage.
Dale Armstrong of the Pinellas County Extension: April 27-28 was the St. Pete Green Thumb Festival, and we met with a local expert to share some Florida-friendly landscaping tips. Also features advice on edible landscaping from Tampa Bay Times horticulture columnist Greg “Dr. Hort” Charles.
Scott Neil of Shooting With SOF: Scott Neil, a former U.S. Army Green Beret and co-founder of Shooting With SOF tells us about this unique charity event on Saturday, May 11 at Shooters World in Tampa, with proceeds benefiting several Special Operations veterans’ charities. Observer tickets are available at ShootingWithSOF.com.
