Search Is On For Missing Boater Near St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (CBS Tampa/AP) — The search for a missing Pinellas County boater has resumed with the return of daylight.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office had called off the search for 49-year-old Michael Douglas Rhine late Sunday due to lack of visibility. Officials say they’ll continue the search on Monday.

Rhine disappeared from a watercraft on Sunday at Bunces Pass near Fort Desoto Park.

“Today, we’re gonna be out here,” Pinellas Sheriff’s Sgt. David DiSano told WTSP-TV. “We’re gonna exhaust all means to try to find Mr. Rhine. By the end of the day, by the end of daylight, we’re going to reassess the situation and go from there.”

No further details were immediately available.
