So, I’ve been to probably 15 Opening Days, but this was my FIRST Tampa Bay Opening Day. If you’ve never done TBOD, do it. If you’re from here, nice effin’ job, everybody! I got to Ferg’s around 5:20 A.M. for the 6 to 9 A.M. shift and as soon as I walk in there’s The Tower of Sour, my radio partner, Chris Dingman. Dinger looks like a sock in a shoe in the new 98.7 Fan Cave, upstairs at Ferg’s, and by that I mean he looks comfortable. It’s Opening Day in Tampa Bay and I’m with a guy I thought would be more comfortable hosting Hockey Night in Canada, but no. Dinger’s ready for some baseball and so am I!

This Fan Cave, upstairs at Ferg’s is super stupid! We’ll be broadcasting live before every home game the Rays play this year. You gotta come check the place out! State of the art, my brother! After we got off the air the people started flowing in. I really didn’t expect anybody to be there for our morning show but I bet they’ll be there for next year’s Opening Day broadcast. The Commish got the party started and Booger and Rich really rocked The Cave! Ferg’s was packed and swaying! I get it now why we’re the envy of Tampa Bay sports talk radio…

Around 3:15, I decided maybe it’s time to hit the tunnel for The Trop. OMG! The Trop was full! Except for the tarped off area in the upper deck, the place was packed! Before walking over I talked to a couple who absolutely love Tropicana Field. They’ve been coming since the 90′s and always sit up in the 300′s but today were in the 200′s. Finally, today, I got it. If you put a capacity crowd in the place it’s a pretty cool ball park! The joint was rocking until I felt the need to hit the road. O’s Chris Davis blasted a three-run homer as I made my way back towards the tunnel. A great Tampa Bay Opening Day spoiled by the visiting Baltimore birds. No matter. I had a blast at my first opening Day in Tampa Bay! I can’t wait to do it again.
